Sentiments and Stuff

Are you disgusted by the amount of stuff that surrounds you? The amount of stuff in each house you can't imagine that's all in just your neighborhood alone?

Sentiments and Stuff

I have so many feelings about the material noise that's connected to me.

I know what I feel joy about, and I know where there's shame or overwhelm.

Like, the used copy of The Notebook on my bookshelf is so KEEP!

But then the 20 books with pretty covers that I won't read but were gifted to me by someone I'm not close to: OBLIGATED TO KEEP: /

Biggest Point to Take Home: Hunk away at it.

My suggestion:

- Start with what you know is just "eh."

Work through the "eh" for months! Just start sticking 1 cardboard box on the edge of the table. When it fills up, stick it in your trunk. Repeat.

My tweak: Happy Donation Box

-Use a box or bag you feel comfortable carrying.

-don't stuff it to where you can't carry it

-don't use an oversized box even if it's light

           -trash bags work just fine

 Here's the Why:

It's uncomfortable to carry, there's no chance you'll want to haul it to your car's trunk or backseat.

Don't feel like you have to donate it immediately - my donations sit in my car for months till I just filter it as "task" instead of "oh no, my stuff :/"

Part 2: What to Donate

Next suggestion: Go through the baskets and drawers

-Little things add up
-Is that piece of candy at the bottom of the drawer serving you, or could it go to the cupboard?

Part 3: Where are We Keeping the Stuff in our KEEP!

Stuff, Stuff, Stuff

-At least make it look nice

The Stuff  You Organize Your Stuff In:

-Avoid Walmart!
-Cheap organization, you're gonna feel bad about yourself whenever you look at it.
                            - you're gonna feel like you're 20 again.
                            - which is great if you're just starting out, like a certain blog writer here
                                    - but you can achieve more
                                        - Walmart is temporary furniture

-Box stores aren't gonna be what you want for long-term storage cupboards.

-Absolutely visit the Goodwills and refinished furniture stores for that: quality and character

-Visit the Ross, Marshals, or TJ Max for Bins - pretty and matching
